REVIEW #18 – I visited SAID’s pleasant showroom and office by appointment with Remy. As this was our first meeting, I arrived slightly early and took the opportunity to make friends with his family poodle, who turned out to be mild mannered and easy to approach. Remy fits that mould too, although I would add forthright, open and reliable as well.
Our transaction involved a fungible commodity with known international buy/sell prices. We agreed a fair Maltese price that, in my mind at least, took account of the cost of logistics and the related physical risk, as well as the time value of money (including “bird in hand” for the seller) and the related commodity-price risk. These elements, relevant to both buyer and seller, would have applied in the event of a deferred alternative transaction of a comparable nature.
Notably, the final terms were settled with a handshake and the transaction was completed the following day, without variations on either side.
