I would suggest going at a slower time to avoid the wait, which was probably 30 minutes at lunch time, but once you’re with an appraiser, the set up makes you feel secure and at ease and time doesn’t feel like a factor. REVIEW #9 – I visited Canada Gold Northwest about a week ago and I had a very positive experience. I dealt with Darrell K. I have never attended a business like this nor have I sold used jewelry / gold items before – Darrell was very helpful in explaining the process and walked me through each step of verifying the authenticity of each of my items and explained how they verified the gold concentration of each item and and then weighed each item on their scale in front of me, then explained the metric they used to apply to each item’s weight and gold concentration to arrive at each item’s valuation / purchase offer.
I found the process to be transparent and fair.
As point of interest – a ring I had taken to another “top prices paid for gold / jewelry” right across from Peter’s Drive In about 2 years ago when I attempted to sell a gold ring- the individual running that store did no testing, was condescending about the ring I was attempting to sell, told me I’d been ripped off when I mentioned the original price paid, then told me he’d maybe pay me $200 max for the ring but that it was essentially garbage. Rude throughout what was maybe a 2 minute engagement.
Dealing with Darrell at Canada Gold – he referred to that same ring as a “premium gold product”, actually undertook time to test and weigh it, then made me an offer of over $600 for that same ring.
Overall I came out from Canada Gold NW with much more $ than I had ever expected for a small handful of old jewelry pieces I’ve held on to for many many years and will never wear again.
Did I get full market value at that day’s gold pricing? Of course not. These guys are a business – they have staff to pay, monthly lease payments, utilities, multiple taxes to pay – moreover substantial overhead and they still need to make a couple bucks for themselves. But they were transparent, fair and paid a higher value for my products than I’d have received from a pawn shop or the other gold buyer I’d visited, by a wide margin.
I have no concerns recommending them and will certainly visit them again first in the event I have other gold or jewelry items to sell at some point in the future. – Kael Smith

REVIEW #9 – My wife and I went to Calgary Gold SW branch for the first time recently. They were busy, it was cold so we had to wait outside for 10 minutes before seats were available inside. We waited inside for another 30 minutes, I was told this was typical. After our experience there it became clear why, as they provided us with excellent service!
We sat down and met with Sara B and she was great! There’s no pressure or obligation to sell, if you want to get an idea of how much your jewelry is worth, they are more than happy to provide that. So if you’re not 100% comfortable with selling, you can take their estimate and leave to think about it. Of course the price of gold changes so if you decide to go back, they will reassess everything; you might get slightly more or less. Sara took her time to explain everything and was a pleasure to deal with! I met my wife when she was just 19, we’re both in our 60’s now.
