REVIEW #7 – While I’m interested in coins, and had accumulated a number of proof sets and loose coins over the years, as well as inherited a few from family members, I’m not an enthusiast. So, after many years of moving the coins around when we moved, I decided to do some homework and find a good shop to sell them, so that enthusiasts could enjoy the collection instead of it sitting in my closet.
I had the good fortune to work with Brian and his daughter Brooke last week. The shop is bright and clean, the displays are fun for people of varying levels of interest, and Brian was terrific to work with. He explained a little bit along the way of reviewing my coins, was patient in answering questions, and forthcoming on values. No one should really expect to hit the lottery with their coins, but with a little online homework should get a fair idea of value. I’d say that Brian appraised everything accurately, was easy to talk to and do business with, and I’d easily recommend this as a great place to sell, buy or simply visit and browse. – Greg Rode
REVIEW #8 – Great shop to buy unique silver pieces sometimes not found in other shops. I was going weekly to up my oz count and collection for some time. They have a good selection of spot +$2 silver rounds and coins. I would not buy or sell graded ASE there as they are low on offering and high on price. I wouldn’t buy eagles or maples there either as they are higher than a certain shop in Ballantyne. But!!! The reason for the 5 stars is that they have a great selection and will work with you if you are buying enough. REVIEW #1 – At 10:10 am I walked in with my late father’s gold & silver coin collection to sell. A lot of pieces were involved, including some scrap gold. Was met by not one but several appraisers ready to help me. 45 minutes later I walked out with a check. Michael did most of the work, carefully going over every piece, including chemical testing. He even seemed interested in how long my father had been collecting, where he got the coins, etc. Although the price offered was not particularly generous, I thought it was fair. REVIEW #9 – Take this for what it’s worth, since I didn’t ultimately have coins of any value, as it turns out. So I can’t speak to their fairness on an actual trade. But, after reaching out to three coin shops through their various online forms to ask about the potential value of a boatload of state quarters and other coins that we’d inherited in a junk drawer, Mitch at Hyatt was the only one who even bothered to respond.
His reply included a very helpful assessment of our kind of coins’ value, plus offered a resource for us to check on that summary. It was such a pleasant, generous sharing of enthusiasm and info, it made me note this store in my contacts, for any future questions about collecting and purchases of coins / metals.
